In the title tag of a blog post, put the most important thing that you think people would search for in front, because that’s what’s will show up as the title of the search results. The title tag is what shows up on the very top of the window when your blog post is viewed. But you can make the title tag DIFFERENT from the post headline, like if you want to write a clever headline that does not contain the keywords people would search to get this post. While you DO need to think of the keywords people will search and put those in your title tag and/or headline, and at least once in the body of the text, you DO NOT actually need to put those keywords in the first paragraph of your post. It’s OK to offer your content for syndication elsewhere if you want the visibility, but you might ask the other site to block the page from search engines so all searches for the keywords go to you, not the other site. If you are giving a shout-out to a company that gave you a free product, you might want to do no-follow links just to be safe, but it’s probably ok if you don’t.

In a column for Modern Medicine , Keith Borglum, a certified healthcare business consultant (CHBC) writes that the web has become the new Yellow Pages for people looking for healthcare providers, which means that doctors need to consider search engine optimization (SEO) to make sure they rank high in a search engine results page. In addition to creating content like a video to introduce themselves to potential clients, Borglum says site should look to get links to their site out to what he calls "legitimate, high quality directories" like the websites of local chambers of commerce or medical societies. In a column earlier this month for Search Engine Land, Hanan Lifshitz said that small businesses should make sure they appear within the top 10 companies in their class and area when a person performs a search for their industry.
